David Deschamps
David Deschamps is the co-editor
(with Bennett Singer) of Gay &
Lesbian Stats, the acclaimed
first edition of this book. He
conceived and co-directed
Electoral Dysfunction, an award-winning documentary on voting and voting rights. Hosted by Mo Rocca, the film aired nationally on PBS and won multiple awards, including the American Bar Association's Silver Gavel Award. Deschamps also co-directed four short videos on voting for the New York Times' Op-Docs series. He has served as a researcher for numerous books, including John Nichols’ Jews for Buchanan and William Martin’s With God On Our Side.
Bennett Singer
Bennett Singer is the editor of
Lesbian (a Lambda Literary Award
finalist) and 42 UP, the companion to
Michael Apted’s famed documentary
series. He has served as producer/director or associate producer of a number of acclaimed documentary projects, including the Emmy-, Peabody-, and duPont-Columbia-winning Eyes on the Prize II; Brother Outsider: The Life of Bayard Rustin; Electoral Dysfunction; With God on Our Side; and The Question of Equality. The former executive editor of TIME Magazine’s education program, he has taught at the high school and college levels, including a course on lesbian and gay literature and film at Tufts University. Singer and Deschamps are married and live in Brooklyn.
